The server/s who waited on our table were arrogant or perhaps they just did not know any other way. We had intended to order a sweet to end the meal but could not wait to leave such an unpleasant environment. The prices are on the high side and the service is what you might get at an Applebees or Olive Garden. Needless to say this dining experience was beyond disappointing. All were good but arrived about 5 to 10 minutes apart with the short ribs arriving about 20 minutes after all of the sides. We ordered the vegetable board, brussel sprouts and beef fries for the table. I was going to order the pasta but was told it was not available at the last minute. My husband and son ordered the short ribs. ![]() So there really isn't a way to order a steak for one person. Their menu is designed for 2 to 3 people to share most everything on the menu including cuts of beef. I'm not sure how having the bartender running behind would impact our bottle of wine arrival. We inquired about the wine after about 15 minutes and were told that the bartender makes all of the drinks and he was really backed up. It took 25 minutes for the bottle to arrive. After being seated we ordered a bottle of wine. Our son loves good beef so we thought Ember & Oak would be a good place take him since they are known for their beef. In mid February my husband and I took our son to Ember & Oak to celebrate his birthday. Maybe I will hit the patio bar for a beer and appetizer next time but never the dining room again. Was that intentional, arrogant or just clueless? Bottom line, very nice atmosphere, elegant but limited, confusing and pricey menu and wine, and precocious staff. We eventually sat silently after our empty dishes were taken by the very nice busgirl for about 10-15 minutes, clearly done and waiting for check, while waiter attended to several other tables around us (were we being ignored?). just "sorry, we'll take care of them for you." Second try was much better, and overall food quality was great. Two staffers came to the table and stated they were cooked properly vs. Scallops entry looked great but came out almost cool at room temperature, so we requested they be replaced with warmer ones. Wine by the glass started at $16, and the few pours I saw did not look good, so we opted for beer (good selections at reasonable price). I cut him off after about 30 seconds and we all quickly ordered light fare. ![]() Hey, this is downtown Melbourne, FL, dude! We hesitated briefly about our choices and he decided best if he recite the entire menu to the four of us. He was young, well-versed in the menu, spoke VERY LOUDLY to the point of being annoying and a bit embarrassing, and came across as snooty and precocious. Their "schtick" is course sharing apparently, for which we had to hear all about from the waiter. ![]() The first page had some great options but they were actually part of a "dining experience" special next month. Menu is somewhat limited, confusing and very poorly laid out, with drink section mixed in between mostly expensive food options. It helped somewhat, and hostess and waiter both apologized and said the tables were being replaced. Despite all the open tables, waiter decided to "fix" the table base with some cardboard instead of simply moving us over one table before we touched anything. Table was insecure, wobbling side to side and the pedestal was also loose allowing some rotation. Very nice dining room, seated quickly but took a long time for waiter or anyone to acknowledge us after that. Plenty of tables indoors (unfortunately raining so couldn't enjoy beautiful outdoor patio and bar area). Looking forward to enjoying their highly rated burger for an early Sat evening dinner with limited time to spare only to find they only serve them on Mondays. ![]()
